  The Collegiate Peaks – Lakeside Preserve is located at the foot of this beautiful 14,000+ foot mountain range which boasts some of the best hiking and biking trails in the state including the Colorado Trail that runs along the continental divide, just minutes away from Ice Lake.  Enjoy the many ghost towns, lakes, streams and camping opportunities or spend a day at one of the hot springs and spas in the area.

Kayaking and Rafting – Ice Lake provides excellent boating from kayaks and canoes to various fishing boats.  Boating is currently limited to non-motorized boats

Buena Vista and the beautiful Arkansas River Valley are quickly becoming one of the top river Kayaking and Rafting destinations in the west.   The numerous water parks along the river from Buena Vista to Canon City are well known by the kayakers and attract enthusiasts from across the country.

Skiing – Monarch Ski Area and Ski Cooper are a short 45 minute drive from Buena Vista and are known for their great snow and smaller crowds.  The other major ski areas including Copper, Keystone, Vail and Breckenridge are about an hours drive from the area.  Cross country skiing and snow shoeing areas are numerous and minutes away from Ice Lake.

Stars Gazing - The high altitude and clear clean air make Ice Lake a star gazers paradise.  There is virtually no light pollution to keep you from enjoying meteor showers and the many constellations.  Current residents enjoy camp fires, roasting marshmallows and star gazing on a regular basis
