   The Lake was originally created in the 1800’s and was used as a stage stop as well as an ice cutting lake for the community and railroad. History of the Ice Lake is well documented by local historians and the incredible fishing is even mentioned in these stories!  Fish caught in the lake were given to the President of the United States during a train campaign stop through the area in the late 1800’s! The amenities that one enjoyed back in the 1800’s are still available at the Ice Lake.  We enjoy the incredible fishing today and the old Stage Stop that still stands and houses the safe from the 1800’s.
